Open your iPhone's computer backup below. Your WhatsApp chats read straight back, free, and export to a court-ready PDF. Nothing is uploaded. No $30 app.
📱 You're on a phone. iPhone backups live on a computer, so open this on your Mac or PC after backing up your iPhone there.
or drag your backup folder here. Nothing uploaded.
First time? You need an unencrypted backup of your iPhone on this computer, with WhatsApp installed on the phone. Two-minute steps below.

Turn off your Wi-Fi and recovery still works. Your backup is read on your computer. There is no upload step.
Compare that with "free scan" sites that upload your data to their servers, then charge to show it back.

Couldn't find a backup there. Select the backup folder itself (a long alphanumeric name) or its parent Backup folder. See "Where is my iPhone backup folder?" below.
No WhatsApp data in this backup. Make sure WhatsApp is installed on the phone and that you made an unencrypted backup (WhatsApp chats are only included when the backup isn't encrypted, or when it is and you provide the password — we don't support encrypted backups yet).
This backup is encrypted. Uncheck "Encrypt local backup" in Finder or iTunes, make one new backup, and open that. (You'll need your backup password to uncheck it.)

Where is my iPhone backup folder?
Mac (Finder): Finder, click your iPhone in the sidebar, Manage Backups, right-click a backup, Show in Finder. (Backups live in ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/.)
Windows (iTunes or Apple Devices):%APPDATA%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\ (or %USERPROFILE%\Apple\MobileSync\Backup\ for Microsoft Store iTunes). Paste into the File Explorer address bar.
Select the backup folder itself (a long string of letters and numbers) or its parent Backup folder. We find the WhatsApp database automatically.
The honest version of "recover WhatsApp messages"
Search results for WhatsApp recovery are full of $20–$46-a-month desktop apps that run a "free scan", show you a blurred result, then charge to unlock your own chats. Here's the truth those pages bury: WhatsApp keeps your messages on your device, not on a server. So recovery is only ever about finding a copy of the chat, and the most complete copy most people have is sitting in their iPhone's computer backup.
✅ In your iPhone backup
Any chat that was on the phone when you last backed it up to a computer is fully readable here, including messages later deleted from the phone. Free, no upload. That's the case we solve.
✅ For court or records
Export any chat to a clean, page-numbered PDF with timestamps and sender, far more usable than WhatsApp's 40,000-message text-file cap.
❌ Deleted before any backup
If a message was deleted and never captured in any backup, no tool can truthfully bring it back, whatever the ad says. We'll tell you straight.
Frequently asked questions
Are my chats uploaded anywhere?
No. The backup is read by your browser, on your computer. There's no upload step, and the page's security policy blocks chat data from being transmitted. Turn off Wi-Fi after loading and it keeps working.
Can it recover messages someone deleted?
Yes, if the message was still on your phone when a computer backup was made. WhatsApp's "delete for everyone" removes it from the live app, but a backup taken before that still holds it. This reads it back. If no backup from before the deletion exists, it's genuinely gone.
Can I use the exported PDF in court?
The PDF is chronological, page-numbered, shows timestamps and sender, and carries a footer stating it was generated locally in your browser and never uploaded. Many people use it for legal, HR, and custody matters. We're not lawyers, check your jurisdiction's evidence rules.
Android or WhatsApp cloud backups?
Android: yes — use our Android WhatsApp recovery tool. It decrypts your msgstore.db.crypt15 in your browser (you'll need your 64-digit key or key file). WhatsApp's iCloud/Google Drive cloud backups are end-to-end encrypted and aren't readable without the key. This page handles the unencrypted iPhone computer backup.
Is it really free? What's the catch?
Free, no signup, no watermark, no pay-to-view. We make desktop file tools and give our browser tools away. The honesty is the point.
